Cassandra Allsworth, Caboolture,QLD Member Since July 2011 Artist Statement I wasn't aware of my talent for art until I was about 19 years old. It came as a complete surprise, when I decided to draw a portrait of a celebrity one night.
It's not just a hobby for me, it's a part of me. Sketching isn't nessessary for me before I start painting.
It's a very pleasurable experience creating art and it's exciting imagining what the outcome will be.
At the moment i think port...raits are my favourite subject and I've always been drawn to the beauty and humanity of the face. I also look forward to exploring different subjects and styles in the future.
It's important for me to use my art for issues i really care about; A Michael Jackson inspired painting that will help go towards his dream of building a children's hospital.
I think my art expresses the many different layers to a person's multi-faceted personality. From the innocence and pure love of a child growing up in a complex world, we lose, or can lose that innocence, with what wisdom is hidden behind.
My self-portrait is about feeling left in the dark and also hiding away my true self and potential, either consciously, or unconsciously and wanting to be heard and understood.
Even though there's still alot i want to learn, I feel very satisfied when I look at my work and want to capture and move people at their very first glimpse.
