Description An abstract expressing the concept of the Chameleon Effect which is commonly known as a Copycatter. In psychology, it's referred to as a non conscious mimicry of the posture, mannerisms, facial expressions and other behaviours when interacting with a partner in their social environment. We naturally tend to imitate people around us without realizing it. It happens when we adopt a Southern twang while visiting someone from the southern states; or moves and facial expressions of someone we interact with at a nightclub or sports venue. When one mimics another it can be considered the sincerest form of flattery or a backfire if the person thinks he is being mimicked and will like the mimicker less. In either case those who pay more attention mimic more if they like the person or mimic less if they dont.
Emily Colosimo, Toronto Member Since July 2012 Artist Statement Emily grew up in a Canadian Italian Family where her mother was a talented seamstress/pattern designer and her father's hobby was redesigning cars. Her dad once envisioned an alternative fuel vehicle over 40 years ago. All of her siblings inherited much of their talents. Her first artwork was a lighthouse drawn when she was 4 years old. From that point on she was destined to become an architect. Sketching, painting and currently digital artwork has become her passive leisure. From Landscape Architect to Advertising Art Director Emily uses her artistic tools to envision her ideas.
