Originally from Germany, I studied art at Johannes Gutenberg Universitaet in Mainz and Kunstschule Alsterdamm Hamburg. In 1986 I moved to California and completed my education at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. I've been working in Northern California as an artist and graphic designer ever since. My paintings have been shown internationally and are in private and corporate collections.
My artwork is a celebration of color and the emotions it can evoke. By juxtaposing layers of acrylic paint and oil pastels and by integrating collage elements, I create textures, subtle nuances of color and abstract shapes inspired by nature and urban environments. Initially a way to document the sources of my inspiration, I also explore photography as a medium to show how beauty and color can be found in the most unlikely places.
