Description Two Shire Horse foals photographed outside Ballynahinch in the County Down countryside. Once a common sight, this important working breed is now rare. Before the advent of the tractor the Shire Horse played a vital role on farms. They were used for many tasks including ploughing and pulling carts.
John McCoubrey, County Down Member Since February 2012 Artist Statement I am based outside Ballynahinch in County Down, Northern Ireland. I love photographing the wonderful Irish landscape and scenery.
